Barcelona will go ahead with its plans to wear white outside the Camp Nou next season, a decision that has generated much debate within the club. The color is strongly linked to Real Madrid, especially in Spain, and some people prefer to avoid wearing a uniform color that is so close to their greatest rival.

The club’s board approved the decision earlier this year based on research and reports suggesting a white shirt would sell very well. Barcelona first considered using the color last year when it was leaked on social media that one of the stripes on the current kit would be white.

A gray jersey with red and blue stripes was ultimately chosen, but fan reaction to the idea of a white kit was deemed positive enough to lead to a decision to have the squad wear white for the 2023-24 season.

What home kit will be used next season?

The most traditional version of Barcelona’s home shirt, which has been in use continuously since 1912, will be brought back for the upcoming season. That is to say, the three stripes on the front will once again be the standard, but in contrast to past years, the width of the front stripes will be reduced.

Only a few subtle watermarks will give away the fact that this pattern was created in the 21st century; the colors will be the traditional blue and maroon.

It is important to remember that Barcelona used to play in white uniforms on a regular basis up until the 1970s. In fact, the club won the final of the Latin Cup in Paris against Nice in 1952 while wearing white uniforms.

The last player to wear the white shirt of the Catalan team was Johan Cruyff in the 1977/78 season.
