Adrian Simon Gill is one of the latest Americans that are making their way to Europe’s biggest clubs and last week he signed a three-year deal with Barcelona. Since July 2021, the Colorado native has been developing in Barça’s youth academy, known as La Masia, and has had impressive performances.

The American midfielder will be eligible to play for the U19 side next season and will be teammates with United States youth international Diego Kochen, who also signed a new deal with the LaLiga side. Gill has also been part of the United States U17 national team fold since last year and joined training camp in January.

The teenager was interviewed by Transfermarkt about his development at La Masia and what it means to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world. Gill was also asked about his international career and the 16-year-old confessed his dreams of receiving a call up from the United States men’s national team in the near future.

Everything is very exciting. It is incredible to train alongside great players and learn from them. I don’t think there is a better place for young players like La Masia in the entire world and I am liking every minute of it,” said Gill.

“I have to be mentally strong to compete against the best players in the world. I’ve always wanted to come here [Barcelona] and I love the pressure day in and day out. My goal is to make my professional debut with the first team and play for the United States at the international level, maybe in the 2026 FIFA World Cup,” added the 16-year-old.
