With the Bundesliga title having finally departed Bavaria after an 11-year winning streak, Bayern Munich’s 2023/24 season rests on their Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid.

The German giants progressed past Arsenal in the quarter-finals and will provide a stern test for the 14-time winners at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday. Bayern come into the game off the back of four consecutive wins but are struggling with a number of fitness issues. Ahead of the game head coach Thomas Tuchel gave an injury update:

“As of right now, nothing is 100% certain. Konrad Laimer, Matthijs de Ligt and Dayot Upamecano will undergo some final checks soon. Things look good for Konni [Laimer]. We also need to wait and see with Jamal Musiala and Leroy Sané.”

Matthijs de Ligt was substituted during Bayern’s win over Eintracht Frankfurt last Saturday, reportedly feeling pain in his knee ligament. Tuchel will be hoping that the Dutch defender is fit to play from the start against Madrid.

How many goals has Harry Kane scored this season?

After playing more than 400 games for boyhood club Tottenham Hotspur, Harry Kane finally left for pastures new last summer. He joined Bayern Munich, the perennial German champions, to finally add silverware to his career but things have not gone to plan in his first season.

Not only have Bayern lost their grip on the Bundesliga title but they were also eliminated from the German cup at the hands of second-tier Saarbrucken. On an individual level, however, Harry Kane has enjoyed a historic season. The Englishman has scored 35 goals in 31 Bundesliga appearances and notched seven in ten games in the Champions League.

With three games remaining Kane has a slim chance of reaching Robert Lewandowski’s record tally of 41 goals in a single Bundesliga campaign. After his brace against Eintracht Frankfurt Kane was asked whether he could catch the Pole. Kane replied, “It’s possible, but I have to hurry.”
