Bayern Munich missing key player for Champions League match with Barcelona
Nagelsmann will not be able to count on Kingsley Coman for the match against Barça.
Bayern Munich will be without Kingsley Coman for next Tuesday’s Champions League clash against FC Barcelona at the Allianz Arena. Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann confirmed the injury during a press conference ahead of their league clash against Stuttgart, a game the champions need to win after two consecutive draws.
“King (Coman) got injured today in training. I hope it’s just a fibre tear, the diagnosis is being carried out now,” the German coach explained, adding: “It’s a muscle injury, it was difficult to guess the extent. At best it’s a strain, at worst a muscle tear. I hope it’s a fiber rupture and that it doesn’t affect several fibres that come together in a bundle.”
“Kingsley Coman suffered a muscle fibre tear in the back of his right thigh on Friday during the last training session before the Bundesliga game against VfB Stuttgart. This was the result of an examination carried out by FC Bayern’s medical department. Coman is therefore out of action for the time being,” the club’s medical report said.
Bayern changes
The head coach confirmed there will be changes ahead of the clash against Barcelona. “King’s injury has no influence, Leroy will get a rest and won’t play from the start because he also wore himself out against Inter. We also have Jamal (Musiala) and Mathys Tel, who hasn’t had much of a load, and Serge (Gnabry), who hasn’t played much lately,” said Nagelsmann.
“We’re not in the position in the table where we want to be,” he concluded.
