Bellingham’s message to Rodrygo: “Only the fools forget the R”

The English midfielder, like his other teammates, showed his support for Rodrygo on social media.

Jude Bellingham decided to address the rumours that emerged this past week of internal problems in the Real Madrid dressing room - specifically of alleged friction between the team’s main stars after the arrival of Kylian Mbappé to the squad.

After the nervy but ultimately successful game against VfB Stuttgart in their Champions League opener, the English midfielder was in charge of putting a stop to the unhelpful noise: “I’ve seen a lot on social media: that Rodrygo is ‘missing’ or that I am ’missing’. They say these things to try and create a negative dynamic. Kylian has arrived; I have a good relationship with Rodrygo and Vini. In general, it is as if we have been together for a long time. We are great friends outside and we enjoy life a lot inside. Today we saw what we are capable of doing”, he told RMTV.

Controversy has surrounded Rodrygo this season

But the Englishman, who is a true leader in Ancelotti’s team, did not limit himself to dispelling just the one rumour. After the match he came out in support of Rodrygo, who is, according to some, having a tough start to the season. Jude responded to him on social media after Rodrygo uploaded an image of the match in which he can be seen running towards Bellingham and Mbappé.

The publication, as is often the case, was commented on by several teammates, including Vinicius and Fran García, but Bellingham’s response went the extra distance, as he referred to the controversies that have arisen at the start of the season, whether true or not, about Rodrygo’s role in this Madrid team and whether he is being left aside in favour of Bellingham himself, Vinicius and Mbappé.

Only the fools forget the R,” wrote the Englishman, along with a white heart emoji. In just a few words he left a clear message that the Brazilian striker will surely appreciate. Recently, since Mbappé's arrival at the club, both fans and some in the media have been pedalling the idea of the ‘BMV’ (Bellingham, Mbappé & Vini Jr) as Real Madrid’s new attacking trident. The ‘B’ was quick to shut this down.

Anger has been a theme of the Brazilian’s early stage of the season, especially after being left out of the long list for the upcoming Ballon d’Or.

Real Madrid move right into their next game in the domestic competition: a home tie against Espanyol. It will be a chance for Rodrygo to confirm his fine form and satisfy both the coach and fans who are eager to see him become a key part of this new-look Real Madrid side.
