Turkish media outlet Fotospor have reported that Istanbul giants Besiktas are hoping to sign Mexico international striker Raúl Jiménez as a replacement for the departed Wout Weghorst, who has joined Manchester United on loan.

“The latest name which the club have looked at is Wolves’ Mexican striker Raúl Jiménez, who picked up an injury in a friendly match against Besiktas earlier in the season. Earlier in his career, Jiménez turned out for European giants Atlético Madrid and Benfica and would be an ideal central striker for head coach Senol Güneş's system,” read Fotospor’s piece.

How many goals has Raúl Jiménez scored for Wolves this season?

Jiménez found the net on Wednesday in Wolves’ Carabao Cup tie against Nottingham Forest, which they lost in a penalty shootout. The former América man has scored three goals in three matches in that competition this season but has yet to find the net in the Premier League, having only featured four times due to injury.

If Jiménez does end up making the move to the Turkish capital, he will have big boots to fill and plenty of work to do. Weghorst caught the eye of the Red Devils by netting eight goals in 16 matches for Besiktas this season but the ‘Black Eagles’ sit 10 points adrift of league leaders – and bitter rivals – Galatasaray (although they do have a game in hand).
