Borussia Dortmund are not ruling out the signing of Edson Álvarez from Ajax this summer, according to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.

Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has been working on a deal to sign Mexico international Álvarez from the Dutch giants.

Dortmund, who recently sold star player Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid, have already submitted an offer believed to be in the region of $33m to sign the defensive midfielder but have not met the asking price that Ajax have set.

With the two clubs yet to reach an agreement over Álvarez, Emre Can and Salih Özcan are the two defensive midfielders currently at the Bundesliga club, with Can being the first choice as it stands.

Aaronson set for move to Germany

USMNT midfielder Brenden Aaronson is set to join Union Berlin on loan from recently relegated Leeds United.

Aaronson will move to the capital club on a one-year loan deal without an option to buy. He will soon complete his medical before putting pen to paper with the Champions League team.

Aaronson, 22, played 36 matches for the Elland Road club last season, and the attacking midfielder scored one goal and provided three assists.
