Carlos Rodríguez explains Héctor Herrera’s Mexico call up
The Mexican national team midfielder admitted that the call up of the experienced player has helped the younger ones.
The call-up of the Mexican national team for this FIFA date sparked controversy, as the experienced Héctor Herrera returned to the ranks of the Tricolor in order to participate in the two preparation matches this September. Carlos Rodríguez, who is in his second World Cup qualifying campaign, however, made it clear that the arrival of ‘HH’ contributes and assists the younger players.
Herrera adds experience for Mexico
“Héctor is a great player; now that he has been in the Leagues Cup, and we have been watching his matches, he demonstrates a high level of quality,” Charly said. “We all know what a great player he is, and he is an important figure within this squad. Beyond what he brings as a footballer, he provides us with valuable experience and insights that help us understand the game better. We are all delighted to have him here.”
“These are part of the processes in football, such as the generational shift, as I mentioned earlier,” he continued. “They, being the older players and the leaders and captains of the national team, contribute a great deal to our growth. It’s essential to learn from them so that when they are no longer here, we know how to handle every situation. Years pass, but as long as they are here, demonstrating their worth, they are welcome.”
Lozano fosters Mexican unity
On another note, the current Cruz Azul player acknowledged that the group feels comfortable having Jaime Lozano as their coach. “The unity that Jaime fosters within this group has been evident since his arrival, and that is something very important,” he added.
On Tuesday, 12 September, Mexico will have their second friendly match in this FIFA date against Uzbekistan. In November, the Tricolor will face Ghana and also Germany.
