Carlos Vela helps LAFC to victory over LA Galaxy
The Mexican international provided two assists in Los Angeles FC’s 3-2 victory over the Galaxy on Friday night at the Banc of California stadium.
The Los Angeles FC broke a four-game winless streak against the Galaxy on Friday night before a capacity crowd at the Bank of California stadium on Friday night. LAFC defeated the Los Angeles Galaxy 3-2 with a superb performance from Carlos Vela, who provided two assists to lead his team to the three points in El Tráfico.

The Mexican international now has a goal or an assist in five of his last six appearances and he contributed to 13 total goals against the Galaxy in the regular season (10 goals and three assists) since 2018. Vela’s eight assists are tied for third most in MLS this campaign and for the first time since arriving at LAFC, he has recorded multiple assists in consecutive games.
Only Portland’s Sebastián Blanco has more goal contributions against a single opponent in Major League Soccer in that time. LAFC has won each of its last four games and remain in first place in the MLS standings with a record of 12 wins, four draws and three defeats and are the front-runners to win the Supporters’ Shield this season.
The Los Angeles Football Club’s 38 goals scored are the most in MLS this season and they have scored in 36 consecutive regular season home games dating back to 22 August 2022. The Black & Gold will return to action on 17 July against Nashville SC at GEODIS Park.
