Mark your calendars
The appetizer is almost done. While the group stages are fun, and a little overwhelming in this first World Cup with 48 teams, the meat and potatoes of this tournament is coming. The Round of 32 starts tomorrow and ends on the 3rd of July. We roll right into the round of 16 the next day as the we will be celebrating the 4th of July with two games a day until the 7th of July. The 8th of July will be the first day without soccer since Mexico and South Africa kicked off this tournament on June 11th. The quarters start on July 9th
The players are coming out on the pitch as we get ready for the final two games of the group stages.

When does Round of 32 start?
Sad that the round of 32 is coming to an end? Don't worry. You don’t have to wait long for the next phase of the tournament. The round of 32 starts tomorrow with Canada and South Africa kicking off the knockout rounds. That will be the only game of the day, but then we have a feast of win or go home matches in the five following days. Sixteen matches will be played from Sunday to Friday, so strap in. There is no rest for the weary.

FIFA Rankings
For the first time all tournament the ever changing FIFA Rankings have bumped Argentina out of the top spot. France´s win over Norway was convincing enough for FIFA to crown them as the top ranked team in the world. Argentina are second, and Spain are third with England and Brazil rounding out the top five. Portugal have dropped a few spots since the start of the tournament and now sit 8th with Colombia at 11th after two wins to start their World Cup campaign.
Golden Boot race
We all know that Lionel Messi is starting on the bench tonight, but he has a chance to distance himself from the rest of the pack if he can score a goal or two tonight in the final half against Jordan. The reining World Cup winner has an outrageous 5 goals in two games, and you wouldn't bet against him adding to his tally tonight. He has five, while other, younger players like Mbappe, Vinicius and Haaland have four after three games played. Incredible what we are witnessing from someone who is playing in his sixth World Cup.
Could we see another Disgrace?
It was one of the darkest days in World Cup history. In 1982 two teams that seemed to come to an agreement to settle a score before the ball was even kicked. The objective, that both teams advance with a secret pact made before kickoff. This could be a real possibility in the other match in this group. FIFA will be keeping a watchful eye on both teams today.
Other match in this group
The other match in the group means much more than this match doesn't. Algeria and Austria are most likely on to the next round once the group stages end, but who they play will matter quite a bit. The winner of that match will get Spain in the round of 32 and now there is speculation that neither team will want to win that match. Our Roddy Cons has more.
Who is up next for ARG
Argentina come into this match knowing very well that they can rest their top guys, which they are doing for the most part. Thanks to their early work in the group stage, and a heroic debut from first timers Cabo Verde, they will play the tiny tropical nation in the next round of the tournament. Cabo Verde drew with Spain and with Uruguay before a nil-nil draw against Saudi Arabia last night. Uruguay´s loss to Spain meant the African island is heading to the knock out round in their first appearance in the tournament.
Best in World Cup history
Messi became the first player to play in six World Cups a day before Cristiano Ronaldo did. Ronaldo became the first player to score in six different World Cups a week later, but the record that everyone wants is held by the Argentine. He has 18 goals in the World Cup and currently has the record that was previously held by Miroslav Klose. How long will it stand? It's irrelevant. This is just another notch under the belt of what many consider the greatest of all time.
Messi, a year older and a year wiser
Lione Messi turned 39 on Wednesday, the 24th of June and for his birthday a few days earlier he gave himself one of the best gifts he could have asked for. After a hat trick to start the tournament, the Inter Miami man became the all time leading goal scorer in the history of the World Cup with his first goal against Austria, and it was a beauty. Then he doubled his tally that night just to give himself a cushion against a rapidly closing Kylian Mbappe.
Star watch: Jordan
If you are looking for a star to watch for this Jordan side, look no further than Ali Olwan. The Al Sailiya forward is 26 years old and scored the first goal in Jordan´s World Cup history. He has played just three games this season between Al Sailiya and Al Karma which means he is rested and ready to give this Argentina team all they can handle.
Star watch: Argentina
Well, without Lionel Messi, who in the world should we be watching? He has scored all the goals for Argentina. He has dictated the pace and has brought the magic. So with him and a fair amount of starters on the bench, who should we be wanting to see make the most of this occasion? I´d say Nico Paz. The Como man is only 21 and has only played 10 minutes but this would be a perfect moment for him to show the world what he is capable of on the biggest soccer stage around the globe. He was brilliant at Como for the last two years and it looks as though he is heading back to Real Madrid after this World Cup comes to an end.
Messi to rest
To all of those out there who thought they were going to be tuning in to Messi going for another hat trick, I have bad news for you. Messi will not be starting this match. Lionel Scaloni told the media on Thursday that he would not be in the XI as he looks to rest some of his starters, most importantly, Lionel Messi at 39 years old. The ARG manager did say he planned on giving his captain some minutes into the second half, but just enough to try and extend his lead in the Golden Boot race and in the All time goal scorer race in the World Cup.
Group J standings
Taking a look at Group J, the final group to wrap up group stages, we see three teams that are likely to move on to the next round of the tournament. Argentina are obviously the toppers of the table with 6 points through two matches. Behind them, Its Austria and Algeria with three points a piece. Jordan have been eliminated but they would love to serve up a surprise in the final game of their debut World Cup .
Last game: Jordan
While Jordan lost both of their first two World Cup matches in their debut campaign, they were in each match until the end. Against Austria they had a chance to level the score until the game sealing goal in extra time. In their second game against Algeria the took a 1-0 lead in the 36th minute with a goal from NIzar Al Rashdan. Algeria equalized in the 69th minute and then took the lead in the 82nd to complete the comeback and almost guarantee that they are heading to the next round of the tournament.
Last game: Argentina
Just like the first game of the World Cup, Argentina´s second game was the Messi show. They took on a tougher Austria team in their second encounter, but that didn't matter. Messi showed that he can dominate a game against Algeria, Austria or the World XI even at 39 years old. He missed a penalty to get things started but would make amends with a brilliant goal. He would score another one as Argentina beat Austria 2-0 and wrapped up the top spot in the group.
We are live from Dallas
Hello everyone and welcome to Dallas, Texas where Argentina already know they are on to the next round of the tournament. They are already in the Round of 32 as the top team from Group H and they already know their opponent next round. Jordan know they are out of the tournament and this is their last World Cup match until who knows when but they will be wanting to bid farewell to this tournament on a good note against the defending champions.
