Carvajal says his Real Madrid goodbye: “an end to an extraordinary chapter”
Los Blancos confirm that Dani Carvajal will leave at the end of the season after 23 years, 27 trophies and one giant Bernabéu goodbye.
With only one game remaining in Real Madrid’s LaLiga season, the club officially announced that captain Dani Carvajal will leave at the end of the campaign, bringing an extraordinary era to a close at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Below is Real Madrid’s full statement:
Real Madrid C. F. and our captain Dani Carvajal have agreed to bring to an end an extraordinary chapter as a player of our club at the conclusion of the current season.
Real Madrid would like to express its gratitude and affection for one of the greatest legends in the history of our club and world football.
Carvajal is one of only five players in football history to have won six European Cups, and he has been part of a team that helped define one of the brightest eras in our club’s history.
He arrived at Real Madrid in 2002 and has defended our shirt for 23 seasons: 10 in the academy and 13 with the first team, where he won 27 trophies: six European Cups, six Club World Cups, five UEFA Super Cups, four LaLiga titles, two Copa del Rey trophies and four Spanish Super Cups.
On an individual level, Carvajal was included in the FIFPro World XI in 2024, named to FIFA’s The Best Men’s XI in 2024, and was voted Player of the Match in the 2024 Champions League final, in which he scored a goal.
Carvajal played 450 matches for our club, scoring 14 goals.
With the Spanish national team, he made 51 appearances and won Euro 2024 and the 2023 Nations League.
For Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez, “Dani Carvajal is a legend and a symbol of Real Madrid and its academy. His image alongside our beloved and unforgettable Alfredo Di Stéfano laying the first stone of Real Madrid City will forever remain in the hearts of all Madridistas and in the history of our club. Carvajal has always represented the values of Real Madrid in an exemplary way. This is and always will be his home.”
Real Madrid wishes Dani Carvajal and his family all the best in this new stage of his life.
The Santiago Bernabéu will pay tribute to him this Saturday during the final league game our team will play this season.
