Casemiro gets a hero’s send‑off in emotional Old Trafford farewell
The Brazilian played his last home game for Manchester United, while the Portuguese equaled a record held by De Bruyne and Henry.

Old Trafford rose to its feet with ten minutes left on the clock. The entire stadium — jerseys, flags, scarves held high — paid tribute to one man. As Casemiro walked off the field for the final time as a Manchester United player at home, he was met with a long, heartfelt ovation.
The Brazilian midfielder waved goodbye, visibly moved, thanking the fans who had embraced him over the past four years. It was his last appearance as a Red Devil at the Theater of Dreams.

Fernandes level with De Bruyne and Henry
With United already having clinched a Champions League spot and Nottingham Forest safe from relegation, Casemiro’s farewell became the emotional centerpiece of a sunny Sunday afternoon in Manchester. But it wasn’t the only headline. Bruno Fernandes stole part of the spotlight by delivering his 20th Premier League assist of the season — tying the single‑season record held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
The pregame atmosphere set the tone. A massive banner featuring Casemiro and the message “até a morte” (“until death”) unfurled across the Stretford End, accompanied by chants of his name. And before fans had fully settled in, United struck. Five minutes before kickoff on the East Coast, Luke Shaw pounced on a loose ball in the Forest box after a Fernandes cross caused chaos, slotting it home to open the scoring.

Forest briefly back level
Forest pushed back with pride, though it took them about 20 minutes to test United keeper Lammens. The match briefly turned into an end‑to‑end sprint, but without much end product. The next breakthrough didn’t come until the second half, when Morato headed in an Anderson cross to level the match. The tie lasted all of two minutes — Cunha restored United’s lead immediately after a lightning‑quick counter led by Mbeumo.
From there, the game shifted into a new gear. Fernandes hunted for assist No. 20, nearly finding it just past the hour mark, but Mbeumo slipped at the crucial moment. United kept pushing, and their captain finally delivered in the 76th minute.
Receiving the ball on the right wing, Fernandes whipped in a low cross that Mbeumo buried this time. It was the most celebrated goal of the afternoon, with teammates mobbing Fernandes as the crowd roared.

The visitors refused to fade, and Gibbs‑White smashed in a brilliant first‑time finish to make it 3–2 and keep the tension alive. Some of that tension lifted when Casemiro exited to his emotional ovation, waving goodbye to Old Trafford.
Fernandes kept chasing the assist record, trying to surpass Henry and De Bruyne outright, but the historic No. 21 will have to wait.
He’ll get one last shot next weekend when Manchester United travel to Brighton for the Premier League finale.
