Team news going into Clásico Nacional
Chivas players Isaác Brizuela and Alexis Vega have returned to training after their respective injuries and could play some part against América.
For América, Emilio Lara and Alejandro Zendejas had missed several games through injury. Lara has slowly made his way back and in the last game against Tigres, he played the full ninety minutes. Zendejas was on the bench against Tigres, but was an unused sub and could return to action this weekend.
The only other casualty for the side from the capital is José Juan Macías, who suffered a ruptured ACL, which will keep him out until the beginning of the next campaign.
Chivas’ danger man
Víctor Guzmán has had a strong start to the campaign, scoring five goals in 10 appearances in what is an impressive return for the attacking midfielder. He’s the joint-fifth-highest scorer in Liga MX for the 2023 Clausura.
All eyes on Martín
Henry Martín has had a flying start to the season, with 10 goals and three assists in 11 games for América. The 30-year-old forward is two goals ahead of Monterray’s Rogelio Funes Mori in the goalscoring charts in the Mexican top flight. He will be the main threat to Chivas’ backline.
América are the league’s highest-scoring side and won 2-0 win against Tigres last time out.
