Following events in Metepec (Toluca province) last weekend where Club León fans violently attacked an alleged Toluca supporter, the Liga MX disciplinary commission announced that a one game ban would be imposed on the ‘La Fiera’ hardcore supporter group for the next Liga MX match.

“This Commission has decided to penalize Club León after it’s supporters violated article 79 of the Liga MX Competition Regulations, which states that no ‘barra brava’ group may attend away games. Due to the situation, access to the Club León ‘animation group’ will be prohibited at the next home game, corresponding to matchday 5, between the León and Pachuca” the statement read.

León fans with ‘previous’

León supporters were sanctioned less than a year ago following a Clausura 2022 game between León and Querétaro after home fans verbally attacked the Gallos Blancos players, who weeks before witnessed at close quarters the pitched battle between Querétaro fans with those of the Atlas. Faced with the cries of “murderers”, the disciplinary commission decided to punish the animation group.

Several years ago, during a promotion final between León and Ciudad Juárez, ‘Los Panzas Verde’ fans caused destruction inside and outside the stadium after the team lost out on securing a berth in the top flight which led to a total stadium ban from attending games from the then Primera A league.
