The Portuguese midfielder has been a long-standing dream signing for the Catalan club, especially during the tenure of former coach Xavi Hernández. A key figure at Manchester City under Pep Guardiola, City previously showed no willingness to negotiate his departure at a reasonable price. This time, however, the circumstances look very different and far more favorable for Barcelona.

Contract situation changes the equation

Silva’s contract expires on June 30, and he has already made the decision to bring his Manchester City chapter to a close. That alone significantly shifts the dynamics of any potential transfer, with Barcelona now monitoring a situation that could open the door to a rare market opportunity.

In addition, midfield is not currently a top priority in the squad planning under Hansi Flick, with a striker and a center back identified as the main targets.
