Cristiano Ronaldo conquers Saudi Arabia with Al Nassr
The Portuguese superstar has clinched the Saudi Pro League title, ending his club’s seven-year wait for a championship.
Cristiano Ronaldo is finally a champion in Saudi Arabia, ending Al Nassr’s seven-year wait for a Saudi Pro League title.
The all-time leading scorer in soccer history reached 973 career goals with a final day brace for Al Nassr against Damac. Sadio Mané opened the scoring for Al Nassr, before Kingsley Coman doubled the lead for Al Nassr.
Ronaldo then sealed the title with two goals in the second half, one of which came direct from a free kick. Rivals Al Hilal also won their match on the final day of the Saudi league season but Jorge Jesus’s team held their nerve and clinched the title with a 4-1 victory.
Ronaldo celebrated in style before departing for the World Cup, where he will make his sixth and final appearance in the tournament with Portugal. The 41-year-old ends the season with 26 goals in 29 league appearances, proving his goal-getting powers are alive and well.
Ronaldo’s title triumph follows the success that Lionel Messi has had in MLS with Inter Miami. Both have now won leagues outside of the European elite, adding to their incredible career trophy hauls. Ronaldo arrived at Al Nassr in January 2023 and, after multiple attempts, finally won the title. Messi, meanwhile, joined Inter Miami in mid-2023 and won the MLS Cup in December 2025.
Up next, one last appearance at the biggest show in soccer. Cristiano will arrive at the World Cup at 41 years of age, while Messi will be 38; both making their sixth outing at the tournament. Fascinatingly, Portugal and Argentina could meet at the quarter-final stage if both win their respective groups.
