Cristiano Ronaldo renews contract with Al Nassr: the legend continues in search of his 1,000th goal

Cristiano Ronaldo has extended his contract with Al Nassr until 2027, pushing his professional career beyond 22 seasons.

Update:

Al Nassr forever!” With those words and a video shared by the club, Cristiano Ronaldo and Al Nassr officially announced the Portuguese star’s contract extension. After weeks of speculation, the news confirmed what many had already suspected following Cristiano’s recent statements: the Madeira-born legend will continue writing his story in Saudi football.

The Portuguese forward has signed a two-year extension with Al Nassr, keeping him at the club through 2027, meaning he’ll continue playing at least until age 42.

Ever since Al Nassr CEO Majed Aljamaan hinted that an announcement about Cristiano Ronaldo’s future was imminent, signs pointed toward a contract renewal for the No. 7.

However, the process wasn’t entirely smooth. The club’s poor sporting form and tempting offers from other teams — particularly those participating in the Club World Cup — complicated negotiations.

There’s been a happy ending after all. Cristiano Ronaldo, with tears in his eyes after winning the Nations League, confirmed it: he’s staying at Al Nassr. The Portuguese icon will remain the face of Saudi football and continue leading Al Nassr.

Since his high-profile arrival in Saudi Arabia in January 2023, CR7 has only added to his incredible legacy — boosting his stats and expanding the global reach of football in the kingdom. He was the driving force behind the influx of petrodollars into the European and global football markets.

His lucrative contract with the Riyadh-based team was set to expire at the end of June, and all signs pointed to him continuing at least one more year in the sport he loves.

The 2026 World Cup remains a key goal for Cristiano with the Portuguese national team, alongside a historic personal milestone: reaching 1,000 career goals. With 938 goals scored after his latest brace with Portugal, he’s inching closer to that epic number.

While titles with Al Nassr have remained elusive, Cristiano hasn’t lost hope. This new deal keeps him at one of Saudi Arabia’s top clubs, and winning silverware there remains his short-term priority.
