The World Cup is over. MLS now has three new global stars.

Following a summer dominated by the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the United States serving as the tournament’s primary host, MLS has returned with a new wave of global stars.

Among the biggest names to make their league debuts this week were World Cup winner Antoine Griezmann with Orlando City, Brazil international Casemiro with Inter Miami, and one of the game’s most prolific goal scorers, Robert Lewandowski, who debuted for the Chicago Fire.

Griezmann and Lewandowski made their first MLS appearances in midweek with very different results.

The French forward played a key role in Orlando City’s 4-0 rout of the San Jose Earthquakes, scoring his team’s third goal, while Lewandowski is still waiting for his first goal in a Chicago Fire jersey.

Casemiro became the latest superstar to take the field in MLS. The Brazilian midfielder played the full 90 minutes as Inter Miami edged CF Montréal 1-0 on the road. The former Manchester United star arrived after starting every game for Brazil at the 2026 World Cup.

Who else could arrive in MLS — and who has already left?

According to soccer insider Tom Bogert, more high-profile players could be on their way to MLS before the transfer window closes.

Among those linked with a move are Uruguay striker Darwin Núñez and Switzerland forward Breel Embolo, both of whom are reportedly on Atlanta United’s radar.

The transfer window has also seen several notable departures from MLS.

Sebastian Berhalter has joined Middlesbrough, while Diego Rossi and Hugo Cuypers have both completed moves to Liga MX side Monterrey.
