Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly considering a move away from Old Trafford in his desire to play Champions League football next season claim The Times (UK). Speculation had been growing that the striker was assessing his options for next season as he also does not feel he fits in the aggressive press-from-the-front system expected to be implemented by new United manager Erik ten Hag.

The 37-year-old showed he is still more than capable of contributing at the highest level in 2021-22, scoring 18 goals in 30 Premier League appearances and six in seven in the Champions League and the Times maintain the player has asked to be allowed to leave Manchester United should the Premier League club receive a satisfactory offer in the transfer window.

Would-be suitors...

Bayern Munich, Chelsea and AS Roma are the reportedly interested suitors for the Madeira born striker’s services with new ‘Blues’ owner Todd Boehly already having carried out conversations with Cristiano’s long standing agent Jorge Mendes.

Bayern and Barcelona are still discussing a Robert Lewandowski fee and the Portuguese could be drafted into the Bundesliga to partner Senegalese forward Sadio Mane. The other option and at present the longest shot could see Roma making a massive statement in the transfer window in securing the signature of the striker with Ronaldo linking up with Jose Mourinho again. The downside for the Italian club would be the lack of top European football as the side from the Italian capital are involved in the 2022-23 UEFA Europa League.
