Cruz Azul reject Panathinaikos offer for Uriel Antuna
The Liga MX turned down three separate bids from the Greek side after the player missed the Clausura 2023 game against Xolos.
Uriel Antuna will not be joining Panathinaikos after Cruz Azul rejected three separate bids from the Greek side for his signature. The ‘Maquina’ are reported to have resisted the lures of the Greek Super League club after they failed to meet the US$6 million asking fee.
ESPN report the negotiation process for a possible Uriel Antuna move to Athens fell through on Monday, as the Greek club informed the player’s representatives thet no new higher bids would be forthcoming.
Last Friday, Panathinaikos presented a third offer for Antuna’s signature with Cruz Azul rejecting the proposal over the weekend with the club deeming the offers to be too low.
The first offer from Panathinaikos was for 3.5 million dollars, the second offer was increased to 4 million dollars and finally the third offer was a loan with a mandatory option to buy in an operation that would have totalled around 5 million dollars to be paid before 30 June.
Antuna left out of Clausura 2023 opener
The 25-year-old was not included in Cruz Azul’s squad for the Clausura 2023 opening game against Tijuana but with the latest developments is expected to participate in matchday 2 of the Clausura 2023 as Cruz Azul face Rayados.
