Upon their return to the second flight of Spanish football for the first time in 59 years, Club Deportivo Eldense are enjoying a solid start to the season as the side from Elda currently sit in 11th position in the LaLiga Hypermotion table.

The owner of the club, businessman Pascual Pérez announced at the end of September that he is looking for buyers for the club as he feels that he has written his chapter in the history of the club. He arrived at Eldense in 2019 and in a period of four years he has taken the club from the fourth tier to a place in professional football.

Eldense have been making headlines again as Onda Cero report that David de Gea has been linked with a move take over at the ‘azulgrana’ side. The former international goalkeeper was in Elda last week to talk to the owner and president of the club to analyse the situation of the team, his potential project and the conditions of a possible sale.

At the moment, it’s felt that De Gea’s visit to the town in Alicante was a first point of contact and nothing more concrete has materialised. This would not be the first time that De Gea has tried to buy a club in the area. He already showed interest in a stake in Elche in 2019, when José Sepulcre put his shares in Elche up for sale eventually selling to Christian Bragarnik.

Eldense are not only in rude health when it comes to their league position but are also a club in a fine state economically, without debt and with all payments up to date. Should the club remain in the second tier come the end of the season though they will need to make a capital increase to five million euros from the current 1.8 million euro.
