Eden Hazard announced his retirement from the Belgium national team following their elimination from the group stage at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The 31-year-old is now thinking about his future at club level and is currently enduring a nightmare at Real Madrid due to his lack of minutes.

Hazard wants to revive his career

Hazard has not adapted well to Real Madrid since arriving in 2019 and has rarely been used by manager Carlo Ancelotti this campaign. Los Blancos played 14 LaLiga games this season before the break and the forward only made three appearances, one as a substitute, for a total of 98 minutes.

Hazard wants to revive his club career, but he needs to make a switch during the summer transfer window. According to L’Equipe, the former Chelsea player is very interested in moving to Major League Soccer next year, but he will finish the season with Real Madrid and won’t leave in January.

Hazard was asked why he wouldn’t leave during the upcoming transfer window and he said that it is because of his family. His contract at the Bernabéu expires in June 2024, but Real Madrid are willing to part ways with him in the summer.

I have one more year and I have to show [what I can do] but it isn’t easy. I’m not playing, I want to play more. I’m really sorry about what has happened. In January it’s impossible [to leave], because I have family and I like the city,” said Hazard during an interview prior to the start of the World Cup.
