Eden Hazard’s market value continues to drop. The Belgian is currently valued at €12 million on Transfermarkt, one of the lowest values since the beginning of his professional career. During his time at Chelsea, he became one of the most important players for the Premier League side, reaching his highest point in 2018 in terms of market value: €150 million (he has lost 92% of that value). For eight months he maintained that figure, which positioned him as one of the most valuable players in the Premier League and in world football. Real Madrid made a move for the winger in the summer of 2019, at a time when the attacker was at his peak, and paid €100 million despite the player having just one year left on his contract.

Injury problems for Hazard

His first three seasons could not have gone worse after he suffered an injury in a Real Madrid-PSG match that caused him to suffer ankle problems throughout that time. His situation at Madrid has been delicate ever since. He does not the game time to find the form required to play regularly, nor the confidence of Carlo Ancelotti. Early last season, his price was around €25 million, a significant drop compared to the €100 million he was worth in his first year as a Madrid player. In the ranking of Madrid’s most valuable players, he is in 16th place, according to the latest Transfermarkt report. Among LaLiga players, the Belgian attacker is ranked 111th.

Hazard has seen his place taken by Rodrygo and Fede Valverde, two players in excellent form and who are only going to improve. Moreover, the Brazilian’s market value has reached its highest point to date after his performances in the last few games, quite the opposite of the Belgian’s situation. The Belgium national team has never been a headache for Hazard, having the confidence of Roberto Martinez, his coach there. But in the last few Nations League games Hazard has once again gone unnoticed, raising doubts as to whether he will be fit for the World Cup in Qatar. He is currently the 21st most prized player in Belgium, according to Transfermarkt. After the break, Hazard has 12 games in 38 days for Madrid, where he will want to play ahead of the World Cup.

Odriozola and Mariano drop in value

It is not only Hazard’s market value that is falling by the minute. Mariano Díaz and Álvaro Odriozola are in the same situation as their team-mate. In the case of the Spanish-Dominican striker, his current value is €4 million, having reached €22 million in his prime with Lyon in 2018. For Odriozola, the drop has been €20 million, with the amount currently standing at €10 million. His highest peak was €30 million, also in 2018. Neither of them are in Ancelotti’s plans.
