Endrick becomes the youngest foreign player to score for Real Madrid
The former Palmeiras player wrote his name in the Real Madrid history books bagging the third goal in the 3-0 win over Real Valladolid.
With just a handful of minutes remaining on the clock and with his Real Madrid side ahead at home against Real Valladolid, Carlo Ancelotti decide to replace Kylian Mbappé for Endrick and give the young Brazilian a taste of action at a packed Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
The Brazilian teenager had only been on the field of play for ten minutes when he latched onto a pass from Brahim Diaz to drill the ball past Karl Hein in goal for the visitors to make it 3-0. His goal also saw the former Palmeiras player become became the youngest foreign player to score for ‘Los Blancos’ at the age of 18 years and 35 days as he eclipsed the record formerly held by Raphael Varane, when the French defender scored against Rayo Vallecano in 2011 when he was 18 years and 152 days old.
The goal capped a tough fought win against a dogged Valladolid side who give little away before Fede Valverde opened the scoring five minutes after the restart. With the visiting side chasing the game and amending their initial game-plan, more space appeared and Brahim Diaz eased the Bernabeu nerves with a goal two minutes from time before Endrick bagged the third in the 96th minute.
Endrick makes a point
Only two South American footballers have managed to score at a younger age than Endrick. The first of these being Lionel Messi, who scored at 17 years and 311 days with FC Barcelona in 2005 and the other being Brazilian Fábio Pinto who bagged a goal for Real Oviedo in 1998 at the ripe age of 18 years and 30 days.
