Everything is “perfect” with Haaland
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola assures that “everything is perfect” with Erling Haaland as he recovers from foot injury ahead of Leeds match.
Manchester City will face Leeds United on Wednesday and City boss Pep Guardiola has reassured the fans that Erling Haaland is fit and ready to go.
Haaland recovering from foot injury
Haaland was signed to City from Borussia Dortmund over the summer, but has been suffering from a foot injury he sustained against Borussia Dortmund in October. Despite that, he leads the Premier League in scoring with 18 goals.
“It’s painful, it’s not easy to recover,” said Guardiola of Haaland’s injury. “That’s why he struggled, but it’s a muscular issue. Now it is much better, and now we know it is a question of time.”
Guardiola said he expects Haaland to be ready for Leeds, which is good because they need him on the field. City are currently trailing Premier League leaders Arsenal by eight points and they have lost two of their last five matches. Haaland started just one of the last five before the mid-season break and his training schedule was hindered by the injury as well.
Guardiola said back before the break that he does not plan to make any new signings during the winter transfer window and he repeated that point ahead of the Leeds match.
If City can pull off a win against Leeds, they would move up to second place again after being bumped down by Newcastle United on Monday.
