Ex-Mexico star signs on as Pumas announce major recruit for Clausura 2026

Pumas have confirmed the signing of Uriel Antuna for the Clausura 2026 tournament, a move that continues Los Universitarios’ efforts to strengthen their roster ahead of a demanding period ahead, featuring both Liga MX action and the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

The Mexican winger becomes Pumas’ sixth addition of the winter transfer window and has already been registered for domestic competition. His arrival was finalized after completing medical exams and signing his contract in Mexico City, before immediately joining Efraín Juárez’s training sessions.

When could Antuna make his Pumas debut?

The attacker arrives at Ciudad Universitaria from Tigres, where he made 48 appearances but saw limited playing time during the most recent tournament. Within Pumas, the technical staff identified his pace and ability to operate along the flanks as key tactical elements needed to bolster the team’s attacking options.

On his first day wearing the Pumas colors, Antuna underwent physical and medical evaluations in the morning, followed by his first on‑field session with the squad later in the day. While his immediate involvement will depend on the coaching staff’s assessment, the club is not expected to rush his debut in the upcoming match against Santos Laguna.

A busy window for Pumas

With Antuna’s addition, Pumas expands a reinforcement group that already includes César Garza, Juninho, Tony Leone, Jordan Carrillo, and Robert Morales, along with the return of Jesús Rivas. The club continues to keep the transfer window open as it looks to finalize a roster capable of achieving greater competitive consistency throughout the Clausura 2026.
