After a season well below expectations that could even leave Bayern without adding any silverware to their trophy cabinet, the corridors of the German club are already buzzing as they put together a squad that will return the Bavarians to the elite level in Europe. In addition to a striker, coach Thomas Tuchel has asked for a defensive midfielder to once again give Bayern more stability when it comes to stopping the bleeding at the back that has hampered their season on many occasions.

According to information from BILD, the English midfielder Declan Rice has been chosen by Bayern, and would shoot to the top of their priority list if indeed they lose Joshua Kimmich, linked with Barcelona. Rice finishes his contract with West Ham in 2024 and, although he has the option to extend it until 2025, everything points to a change of scenery in the next transfer window. His signing is an express request from Tuchel and his current market value, is said to be somewhere in the region of €80 million.

Which teams are interested in signing Declan Rice?

The difficulty lies precisely in Rice’s extremely high price for a Bayern board that, except for a shock switch of opinion, will not be able to take up the purchase option set at €70 million for right-back, João Cancelo. Added to the complications is the fact that Bayern are not the only team interested in Rice.

Chelsea and Arsenal, both with a much higher budget than the Munich outfit, are also after the player, making Bayern’s task of tempting the Londoner even more complex.
