The summer transfer window has not yet opened and there has already been plenty of movement on the benches of Premier League clubs. Carlo Ancelotti’s future is still up in the air despite Real Madrid’s win over Chelsea in the Champions League on Tuesday.

If the Italian coach wins the Copa del Rey and the Champions League he will stay in charge at the Bernabéu, but a Copa del Rey final defeat or elimination from the Champions League could see the 63-year-old leave Madrid at the end of the season. Faced with this possibility, a few names are being linked with becoming his replacement.

Ferdinand: Ancelotti could be leaving Real Madrid

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has spoken out about the Real Madrid managerial position. “You’ve got to keep Arteta, first and foremost,” the former England international said on his YouTube show Vibe with Five.

“I heard something… I heard that Real Madrid (are interested) and when they come knocking your players will be coachless,” he added.

“I heard Ancelotti, Don Carlo, the eyebrow, he might be getting off, and that Arteta is looking to go to Real Madrid. That’s the rumour on the streets. The streets are talking.”

Arsenal in title race

Arteta is currently focused on trying to win the Premier League with Arsenal. Manchester City are only four points behind them, with Pep Guardiola’s side having a game in hand, so the Spanish coach won’t be getting distracted by talks over his future right now.
