Erik ten Hen has been given a major boost ahead of the crucial Europa League second leg against Sevilla as Marcus Rashford returned to training on Wednesday.

The English forward has been in brilliant form this season and has already hit 27 goals in all competitions for the club. Rashford was forced off in the recent win against Everton after picking up a groin injury and has missed the past two games.

Earlier this week Ten Hag said that Rashford had a “chance” of featuring in the Sevilla game but he might not be ready to play from the start. Rashford joined in with the club’s session on Wednesday and Ten Hag may decide to make a late decision on his fitness.

Rashford has looked transformed under Ten Hag and is the club’s top goal scorer this season. He has hit six goals in eight Europa League appearances so far this campaign, including goals in both legs of the last-16 victory over Real Betis.

Injury concerns ease for Manchester United

Last weekend the Red Devils were struggling with a lengthy injury list that included some of the club’s most important players. In addition to Rashford, The likes of Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw were all unavailable for the trip to Nottingham Forest.

The central defensive pairing of Varane and Martinez have more long-term injuries but Malacia and Shaw were both pictured alongside Rashford in Wednesday’s training session. Shaw is expected to come back into the line-up and could return to the centre back role given United’s absences in that position.

Also back in training was Marcel Sabitzer, whose early brace in the first leg against Sevilla looked to have given Manchester United a solid lead. He was named in the line-up for Forest last weekend but was pulled from the starting XI after a minor injury in the warm up.

He is likely to return to the team in Seville.
