Feyenoord forward Santiago Giménez says he’d “love to play for Real Madrid”
The Mexican marksman spoke about the possibility of joining the 14-time Champions League winners.
A possible romance between Santiago Giménez and Real Madrid gets stronger with every tick-tock of the clock. The Feyenoord forward is thriving in his second season in European football (here’s his secret) and the strong performances he has put in has led to Europe’s top club raising their eyebrows and taking note.
Since Paco Buyo named Giménez as a potential transfer for Los Blancos, the player has seen his named linked with the Spanish giants and things appear to have moved from there. Giménez visited the Spanish capital with his side when they faced Atlético Madrid in the second round of Group Stage fixtures of the 23/24 Champions League and he did not waste his time in winking at the club up the road.
What did Santiago Giménez say about joining Real Madrid?
While Santiago Giménez did not play in the game against Atlético Madrid, which his side lost 3-2 thanks to a winning goal from Álvaro Morata, he did make his name fill the papers and social media websites with a frank yet enticing comment about whether or not he would like to play for Real Madrid in the future.
The striker was questioned by journalist Elissa Laso about a potential move to Real Madrid in the future, to which Santiago Giménez replied smiling “of course [I would like to join], they are a big club, of course.”
Santiago winks at Real Madrid’s stadium
Another potential wink from the player to the club was the Instagram story that he published while on a trip of Madrid earlier in the day. Among other photos including a snap at the Royal Palace, Giménez uploaded a photo of the newly renovated Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, sparking rumours of a romance between the two. Real Madrid, despite being linked for a move in January, are keeping their cards close to their chest and focussing on the current campaign; they recently beat Napoli 2-3 in the Champions League.
