Michael Olise is the latest star rising on the horizon of European football. His outstanding season at Bayern Munich has earned him a place among the game’s elite. The French international is expected to be one of the standout figures at the World Cup, which kicks off on 11 June in Mexico. The winger has become one of the most coveted players in world football and is already a prime target for several clubs, including the Real Madrid project that Florentino Pérez hopes to build. Olise is fully aware of the interest from the current Real Madrid president.

The $174 million figure mentioned by the candidate seeking another four-year term at the club is the amount he intends to offer Bayern should he win next Tuesday’s election. His objective is clear: to secure the signing of the Bavarian club’s star winger. Transfermarkt currently values the Frenchman at that same figure. If the transfer were completed, Olise would become the most expensive signing in Real Madrid’s history.

Florentino Pérez has made no secret of his desire to refresh the first-team squad. Throughout his tenure, he has consistently targeted the biggest attacking talents on the market, many of whom have gone on to wear the famous white shirt. The unexpected turn taken by the election campaign in recent days led Pérez to announce last Thursday that he intends to invest $174 million in a new galáctico. That player is Olise.

Bayern signed the French international from Crystal Palace for $60 million during the summer of 2024. He showed flashes of his immense talent during his first season in Germany, but over the past few months he has reached a new level, establishing himself among the most highly valued players in the world.

The right wing is Olise’s natural habitat, an area of the pitch where Real Madrid currently lack a genuine specialist, aside from Franco Mastantuono, whose immediate future is likely to involve gaining experience and regular playing time elsewhere in Europe. Operating on his inverted foot, Olise frequently cuts inside, allowing him to unleash his powerful and technically gifted left foot.

At just 24 years of age, and given the remarkable progress he has made this season, it is fair to say that Olise’s ceiling remains unknown. Any deal would be far from straightforward, however. Bayern are one of Europe’s strongest financial powers and have no need to sell. Nevertheless, when exceptional opportunities arise, the German giants have shown they are willing to consider offers for some of their prized assets.
