Hollywood has a new star, and his name is Riqui Puig. The LA Galaxy midfielder has become the team’s hero at the start of the MLS Playoffs and is emerging as a potential MVP.

The Colorado Rapids have experienced firsthand the Catalan’s exceptional form. In the first round of eliminations, they suffered heavy defeats in both matches, conceding a total of nine goals, four of which were scored by Riqui Puig, who also provided an assist.

Assuming a pivotal role, the Galaxy’s number 10 is emerging as a key figure in what promises to be a highly competitive Playoffs. Following their decisive victories, their next opponent will be determined from the Minnesota United and Real Salt Lake matchup, both formidable teams.

Most football enthusiasts would cite Messi and Suárez as the standout stars of the current MLS. However, when considering the roster by conferences, Riqui Puig undoubtedly stands out in the West. At 25, he appears to be reaching a maturity that perfectly complements the natural talent he exhibited from his early days at Barça.

In a breakout year, Puig has amassed a total of 17 goals and 15 assists, propelling LA Galaxy into the top eight teams in US soccer. His ability to contribute in the final third is also a huge draw for an emerging league eager to showcase its top stars.
