From ‘Pocho’ to Pizarro: The new signings to watch in the Apertura 2026
As the Liga MX prepares for its latest short tournament, several major transfer deals have already been completed.

While the attention of virtually every soccer fan has been focused on the World Cup, all 18 Liga MX clubs have got to work in the transfer market. Several teams have already secured the services of high-profile players who are likely to make a major impact during the Apertura 2026 tournament.
Although the transfer window still has a long way to go before closing, some clubs will already be able to showcase their new signings starting on matchday one of the Apertura 2026.
Guzmán set to work his magic
Víctor ‘Pocho’ Guzmán will wear Toluca colors beginning with the Apertura 2026, marking the third club of his Liga MX career after previous spells with Pachuca and Chivas. The Mexican midfielder is looking for a fresh start with Los Diablos Rojos and hopes to reignite his career in a new environment.

Pizarro returns to where it all began
They say people always return to the places where they were happiest, and that certainly seems to be the case for Rodolfo Pizarro. The Tamaulipas native has chosen to return to Pachuca, the club where his professional career first took off.
After exactly a decade away, Pizarro is back in La Bella Airosa, this time embracing the role of a veteran leader both on and off the field. It is a responsibility he is eager to fulfill under head coach Benjamín Mora.
Carrillo dons the famous red and white stripes
Just a few months ago, Jordan Carrillo was one of Pumas’ most dangerous attacking weapons. Now, he will suit up for Chivas in a system that appears tailor-made for his skill set.
Although he was not called up to the Mexican national team, Carrillo is determined to catch the attention of national team decision-makers ahead of the next World Cup cycle. In Guadalajara, he will have one of the biggest stages in Mexican soccer to showcase his talent.

Córdova hopes to break the Pumas curse
Fresh off winning the CONCACAF Champions Cup this past May, Sebastián Córdova arrives at Pumas carrying plenty of expectations. The attacking midfielder is expected to enjoy opportunities that never fully materialized during his time with either Toluca or Tigres, where competition from players with similar profiles often limited his role.

Rossi looking to shine in Mexico
Uruguayan forward Diego Rossi is set to make his Liga MX debut with Monterrey. Born in Montevideo, the former Columbus Crew standout arrives with a strong reputation and adds another high-profile piece to Rayados’ attack.
Rossi fits the type of dynamic offensive player that has traditionally thrived in Monterrey. The 28-year-old was named MLS Most Valuable Player during the 2020 season while playing for LAFC.
