From Spain to Mexico? This forward could be on his way to Larcamón’s Cruz Azul
Cruz Azul, who this week confirmed the appointment of Nicolás Larcamón, are targeting a forward playing in Spain’s second tier.

On Monday, Cruz Azul officially announced Nicolás Larcamón’s appointment as the team’s new head coach, with sights set on the Liga MX’s Apertura 2025.
And with less than a month until the tournament begins, Los Celestes are busy combing the transfer market, in a bid to strengthen the roster at the Argentine’s disposal.
Viñas to return to Mexico?
According to the journalist Daniel Gutiérrez, the CONCACAF champions are targeting forward Federico Viñas, who is currently plying his trade for Real Oviedo, a team battling for promotion to the Spanish top flight.
Viñas is on loan at Oviedo from Liga MX club León. The Uruguayan international, who has been capped four times by the South American nation, also has experience of playing in Mexican soccer for Club América.
However, Gutiérrez notes that Viñas will likely stay at Oviedo next season if the Asturias club is promoted to Spain’s Primera División.

Who has left Cruz Azul in the Liga MX off-season?
So far, the only confirmed departure from Cruz Azul ahead of the Apertura 2025 is former head coach Vicente Sánchez, who parted company with the club after failing to reach an agreement with the management.
It is expected that in the coming weeks, La Máquina will announce the names of the players who will not continue with the club.
