Update:

With only about a week before Club América faces Monterrey in their quarterfinal series, the squad is regaining strength for the most critical stage of the Apertura 2025 tournament. After a rocky finish to the regular season, uncertainty loomed over André Jardine’s lineup due to injuries and a potential home-field dilemma caused by concerts scheduled at an arena next door to América’s home stadium. Now, though, things are starting to fall into place for Los Azulcremas.

What’s the latest on América’s injuries?

Following the international break, the national team players have returned to camp, and according to ESPN, most are in excellent condition. The lone exception is Sebastián Cáceres, who didn’t see action with Uruguay after immediately reporting muscle fatigue. He returned to Mexico early, but his situation poses no real threat - confidence is high that he’ll be available for the playoff series.

Adding to the good news, Henry Martín and José Zúñiga are both expected to be ready for the first leg. Both had been sidelined with injuries, and there were serious doubts about when - or if - they’d return in the Apertura 2025. While it’s unlikely either will log heavy minutes right away, their presence is a boost for Jardine, whose attack has looked anything but sharp in recent weeks.

Stadium situation sorted

Héctor González Iñárritu, the club’s chief operating officer, confirmed that América will remain at Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes despite the scheduling conflict with concerts at the nearby Plaza de Toros. The workaround? The second leg will kick off no later than 5:00 p.m. local time to avoid overlapping crowds. As of now, not only are the exact dates and times still up in the air, but América has yet to start ticket sales - unlike Monterrey, who already opened sales for the first leg.
