Neither Vinicius, nor Mbappé, nor Lamine Yamal. Transfermarkt, the website specializing in statistics and movements in the football market, has updated Erling Haaland’s market value - the Manchester City striker is now the most valuable footballer in the world with an estimate of 200 million euros ($221.5 million).

The Norwegian becomes just the second player to reach that figure - Kylian Mbappé, Real Madrid’s new No.9, hit the same value in December 2018 when he was still at PSG.

Haaland’s goal scoring run continues

Haaland has had a brilliant start to the season. He has scored 10 goals in the six Premier League games he has played so far. In fact, there has only been one game in which he didn’t find the net at all - City’s last league match away at Newcastle United which ended in a 1-1 draw (Josko Gvardiol scoring for Guardiola’s team).

It’s a continuation of the Norwegian’s excellent figures since he arrived in Manchester. In his first year, 2022/23, he scored 52 goals in 53 games and the following campaign he scored 38 goals in 42 appearances, again close to the ratio of a goal per game.

Three players are just behind Haaland in the rankings - all of them Real Madrid stars. Bellingham, Mbappé and Vinicius are each valued at €180 million ($199.3 million), although their figures could change in a future update.

The next update is scheduled for 28 October, when France Football will present this year’s Ballon d’Or. The Brazilian winger is the top favorite to take home the award - should he do so, his value is almost certain to be upgraded.
