Hirving Lozano injury update: when will he be back? What injury has he got?
The Mexican suffered an injury in Napoli’s Serie A game against Fiorentina and had to be replaced.
Napoli’s Serie A win this season has generated headlines across the globe. The draw against Udinese was enough for the team to be proclaimed champions for the first time in over 30 years and Argentina’s World Cup win during the same season gave Maradona’s ex-team even more reason to be nostalgic and thankful.
With the league already won, the side looked to add more fuel to the party with a win over Fiorentina in Serie A. However, the good feelings were somewhat muted when Mexican winger, Hirving Lozano, came off injured during the game.
What injury does Lozano have?
Just moments before the end of the first half, the Mexican national team player, who has scored 3 and assisted 3 this season - wanted to beat Barcelona target, Sofyan Amrabat for pace, but his foot got caught in the turf and this caused the player to twist his knee. The Pachuca youth-team graduate tried to continue but complained of a strong pain and was helped off by the Napoli medical staff, replaced by Kvaratskhelia.
Lozano will undergo tests to determine the extent of the injury which will lead to a time frame for his return being planned out. As of yet, the player - who became the first ever Mexican to win Serie A - is yet to speak publicly regarding the injury.
Will Chucky Lozano be available for selection with Mexico?
With the victory, Napoli are on 83 points in the table and are only waiting for the season to end to receive the trophy. As for Lozano, his brilliant performances throughout the campaign will undoubtedly lead to Mexico manager, Diego Cocca, putting him high up the pecking order when the time comes for him to choose his Concacaf Nations League squad.
Before that, however, Mexico will play Cameroon in a friendly game. Find out all you need to know, including dates and kick-off times, here. It remains to be seen whether or not the 27-year-old will be fit in time to feature in the squad.
