How does Borussia Dortmund feel about facing Erling Haaland in the UEFA Champions League?

With way his former team has spoken about their excitement regarding a reunion, perhaps it would be better for the Haaland and his ‘Citizens’ to air on the side of caution.

With the UEFA Champions League draw now complete we’ve got some interesting ties including a pair of extremely intriguing reunions between two certain strikers and their former teams.

Manchester City’s Erling Haaland to face Borussia Dortmund

For the conspiracy theorists out there, this year’s UEFA Champions League draw will probably do very little in the way of keeping them quiet. Following a less than amicable departure for Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich, Europe’s governing body has seemingly pitted his new team FC Barcelona, albeit via a lottery against his former club Bayern Munich. Widely considered the ‘Group of Death,’ with Inter Milan and Czech outfit Viktoria Plzen also in the running, it was a tie that Lewandowski himself admitted he’d like to avoid, but alas the footballing fates had other ideas.

This of course brings us to the other major get together between a star striker and his former club. That’s right, Norwegian goal sensation and Manchester City new boy Erling Haaland is now set to face Borussia Dortmund - the team he just left - in what promises to be a solid Group G with the likes of Sevilla and Copenhagen also along for the ride. It’s a matchup that even his former teammates are looking forward to, which leaves the question, ‘is that a good thing?’

What’s the Manchester City vs Borussia Dortmund head-to-head record?

With just five previous meetings between the two, there isn’t a whole lot to go on in this one, but rest assured it’s going to be epic. To date, the boys in yellow and black have won two of their five meetings with the ‘Citizens,’ lost one and drawn two. Worth noting, is the fact that their most recent showdown was just last year when Man City won 2-1 courtesy of a Phil Foden 90th minute strike. It goes without saying that the Germans will be looking to right that wrong when they face off in their Champions League group.
