2026 World Cup international friendlies: Who plays today, Friday, June 5?
As the World Cup approaches, today’s international soccer matches see a trio of nations close out their pre-tournament schedules.


2026 World Cup co-host Canada is among the national teams in action on Friday, as Jesse Marsch’s men play their final friendly before their tournament opener next week.
Three teams to wrap up World Cup prep
The Canadians welcome the Republic of Ireland to Montreal, seven days before the Canucks kick off their World Cup against Bosnia-Herzegovina, in Toronto on June 12.
Friday’s slate of friendlies also sees Haiti conclude its World Cup preparations with a Miami clash against Peru, while Paraguay faces a final tuneup against Nicaragua in Asunción.
Appearing at its first World Cup since 2010, Paraguay gets its tournament underway against another of the finals’ co-hosts - the U.S. - on June 12. The Haitians, who last qualified for the World Cup back in 1974, begin their campaign against Scotland on June 13.
The fourth World Cup team on Friday’s schedule is Saudi Arabia, who goes to Texas for its penultimate friendly. Giorgios Donis’s side takes on Puerto Rico at Austin’s Q2 Stadium, four days before a San Antonio exhibition game against Senegal.
On matchday one of the World Cup, the Saudis play Uruguay on June 15.

How long to go until the 2026 World Cup starts?
Just six days remain until the 2026 World Cup: Hosted by Canada, Mexico and the U.S., the tournament begins on Thursday, June 11.
In the opening game, the Mexicans face South Africa in a Group A matchup at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, with kickoff scheduled for 3:00 p.m. ET.
