England captain Harry Kane takes on Manchester United in the Champions League on Wednesday night, just weeks into his Bayern Munich career.

Kane spent nearly two decades with boyhood club Tottenham Hotspur, rising through the ranks and eventually becoming the club’s all-time record goalscorer.

The Englishman scored 280 goals in 435 appearances for Spurs, notching 213 Premier League goals in the process. During his time with Tottenham he featured in 19 matches against Manchester United and contributed five goals and three assists.

Kane was often on the losing side against United, suffering ten defeats in those 19 matches. He will be confident of improving his record against Manchester United on Wednesday.

Who has Harry Kane scored the most goals against?

His record against Manchester United may not be the best, but Harry Kane tormented countless Premier League teams during his time in the English top flight.

His best record came against Leicester City, with whom he spent a loan spell as a young player, scoring 20 goals in 20 games. He also scored 16 in 17 matches against Everton.

However memories that will live longest in the memory for many Tottenham fans come from the North London derby fixtures against fierce rivals Arsenal. In 19 appearances against the Gunners, Kane scored 14 goals and contributed three assists.

Could Harry Kane have signed for Manchester United?

The 30-year-old lines up against Manchester United in his first Champions League fixture for Bayern Munich, but could easily have been in the away changing room for the game.

In a recent interview, Kane revealed that he had received interest from Manchester United over summer. However the Englishman insisted that Bayern were always his preference.

It was down to Tottenham and Bayern,” Kane said. “Manchester [United] are a great club, a really big club, but I decided to come here, really glad I have.”

Bayern spent a club-record fee to bring Kane to the Allianz Arena, with the aim of competing for the top prize in European football.

“There is a reason that Bayern Munich brought me to the club,” Kane explained. “They were eager to get back to winning the Champions League.”
