CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

How many times have Real Madrid won the Champions League?

‘Los Blancos’ will hope to lift another Champions League title when they take on Dortmund on Saturday. But how many UCL titles have they won in their history?

The Wembley Stadium will host the 2023-24 Champions League final between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid. While Los Blancos were expected to do well in the tournament, probably nobody expected Edin Terzic’s men to get to this stage. However, the German side proved that anything can happen with confidence and a winning mentality.

However, Los Blancos are the big favorites in this final matchup, as they have the better squad and seem to be living a constant romance with the most important European club tournament.

Carlo Ancelotti’s players, who have only lost one game over 90 minutes in the entire season, dominated the group stage, winning all six games. In the knockout rounds, they had to dig deep to eliminate RB Leipzig, but after that, they played at their best to get the better of Manchester City and Bayern Munich.

How many Champions League titles have Real Madrid lifted?

It has often been said that the Spanish giants love playing in this competition or even the same players say that the UCL is Real Madrid’s favorite tournament. The reason is that they are the club with the most tournament titles, with 14 Champions League titles (or European Cup before 1992).

With Alfredo Di Stefano, and Paco Gento, Real won the first five editions of the tournament from 1956 to 1960. They are also the tournament’s most successful club in recent history, as they won the Champions League title five times in the last 10 campaigns.

What’s Real Madrid’s record in Champions League finals?

Real Madrid have played 18 Champions League finals in their history. The Spanish club is also known to be one of the best when playing finals, and their stats confirm that, as they only lost three of the 17 they previously played.

Madrid’s dominance in Europe is out of doubt, as they double the number of titles of AC Milan, the competition’s second-best team.

Although they have historically had great squads that allowed the team to compete for all the titles in most seasons, the truth is that the Spanish team has always had a winning mentality that often translated into success.

Probably the best proof of that dates back to 2014 when Real Madrid took on their city neighbors Atletico Madrid in the UCL final. Despite losing 0-1 for almost the whole game and with only a few seconds left for the final whistle, Sergio Ramos’ equalizer completely changed the game dynamics, and Real Madrid won 4-1 after extra time.
