Travelling close to the speed of light, the rules of space and time that govern you and I every day, cease to exist: the relationship breaks down and you find yourself in a world where reality no longer ages like you are used to. Time does not exist in the same way as before, nor does the space that you occupy. Pretty much like Ronaldo, then, only he does not have to travel at the speed of light to experience a world that is alien on all sides of the spacetime dimension. He has astronomical levels of money instead.

Speculation has been rife over the past few days as to whether or not Cristiano Ronaldo will be able to live with his girlfriend, Georgina Rodríguez, in Saudi Arabia, or whether the country will succumb to the pressure of housing the global star and bend their laws to accommodate him. But with a house this big, would Ronaldo even see his girlfriend, or would she be lost across the near 100-floor luxury hotel that they are reported to be staying in?

Ronaldo’s arrival to Saudi Arabia

Cristiano Ronaldo arrived in Saudi Arabia with the idea of broadening his horizons and claiming “in Europe my work is over, I’ve done it. I’ve won everything.” A seven year contract which will earn him a reported 500 million euros, was handed out by the club, a number so big that money ceases to function as mortal people see it.

He was unveiled as an Al-Nassr player at the team stadium on 3 January and was present in front of a rapturous crowd, who maybe struggled to see the player at times through the fireworks and laser lights. The forward has not yet made his debut for the club, as he is still serving a suspension handed to him during his time at Manchester United, but could be in line to make his club debut in a friendly against PSG this month, according to club manager, Rudi García. How curious.

17 rooms over two floors - is that enough?

At the moment Ronaldo and his family are living in the Four Seasons hotel in the Kingdom Tower, according to the UK outlet ‘Daily Mail’, where Ronaldo has booked up as many as 17 rooms for his family, friends and security team across two floors of the 99 that the hotel has. According to the aforementioned outlet, Ronaldo will pay around €285,000 per month for his accommodation until he can find a permanent residence.

Facilities at the luxury hotel include a tennis court, a sauna and massage services, as well as a variety of luxury food from different countries across the world. And while he’s there, somebody ask him if he knows the price of a pint of milk.
