REAL MADRID
How much is HP paying Real Madrid to appear on famous jersey?
American tech company Hewlett Packard will be making its mark adding to the brands that already appear as the team’s main sponsors.
Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez aims to continue attracting sponsors so that his team can maintain its competitive edge in terms of revenue, similar to teams like Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain. The next one to land at the Santiago Bernabéu will be Hewlett Packard, commonly known as HP. The multinational American technology company that produces desktop computers, laptops, and printers, is hopping on board to feature on the Madrid jersey. It will not replace Fly Emirates, which will continue to be prominently displayed on the main part of the shirt, but instead will be placed on one of the sleeves.
What other sponsors are on Real Madrid shirt?
For the first time in its history, Madrid will have two sponsors on the jersey. While it is common for some teams to have sponsors on the sleeves or the back of the shorts, Los Blancos will feature this additional sponsor on the sleeve. This move is expected to increase the club’s income, and the jersey alone will bring in 250 million euros (c.$270m) per year. From Adidas, the club receives €117.6 million (c.$127m) annually, €70 million (c.$76m) from Fly Emirates, the latter being the same amount being contributed now by HP. This marks a record in sponsor revenues for the capital club. Fly Emirates has a contract until 2026, and if they renew, this figure could potentially grow further.
New Bernabéu stadium revenue streams
This increase in revenue, thanks to the agreement with HP, will be complemented by the additional income generated by the new Santiago Bernabéu. It is expected that starting from the next season, Real Madrid could earn around $1 billion per season. With this commercial strategy and the partnership with HP, the white team will not lose ground to state-backed clubs, allowing them to continue competing for the best players, with Mbappé and Haaland on the horizon. Consequently, Madrid becomes the club with the highest revenue from its jersey, adapting to the changing times and maintaining its position among the top-earning clubs in the world.
The official announcement of the agreement between Real Madrid and HP is scheduled for Friday, following a mysterious video uploaded by the club on its social media channels, sparking speculation among users about a possible signing. The “signing” is HP and in the coming days the team’s jersey sleeve is expected to showcase their new sponsor.
