Update:

Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany has finally offloaded his stunning Cheshire mansion for around $4 million, drawing a line under his life in northwest England.

Kompany, now 40 and coach of Bayern Munich, had held onto the property even after relocating to Germany two years ago. But with his future now firmly tied to Bavaria, the writing was always on the wall for the sale of the property.

The Belgian spent more than a decade living in the area during his trophy-laden spell at Manchester City, turning himself into a club icon before stepping into management.

Kompany’s slice of Cheshire luxury

Kompany’s Bayern side are in the middle of a massive UEFA Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain, with the first leg tonight, Tuesday April 28, and the return leg next Wednesday, May 6.

It’s a defining moment in his young managerial career, coming off the back of a dramatic 4-3 win over Real Madrid that sent Bayern through.

Domestically, things are already taken care of. Bayern have retained the Bundesliga title, and Kompany has committed his future to the club through 2029.

Safe to say, his focus is no longer on real estate in Cheshire.

Inside Kompany’s $4 million “Golden Triangle” mansion

The six-bedroom property Kompany has sold sits in Cheshire’s so-called “Golden Triangle” — an affluent pocket south of Manchester that functions rather like a quieter, greener version of Beverly Hills for Premier League players.

Located near Manchester Airport, the home offered both privacy and convenience, tucked away down a road “you wouldn’t even know was there,” according to local property sources.

Inside, the numbers do the talking: roughly 7,600 square feet spread across four floors, set within nearly three-quarters of an acre of landscaped grounds.

The design blends traditional English “Arts and Crafts” architecture with modern luxury, from decorative stonework and slate roofing to high ceilings and custom-built interiors.

A soccer player’s dream setup

This was not a modest family home. It was built for a soccer player.

There’s a full leisure suite, including a 10-meter indoor pool, gym, sauna, and changing facilities, essentially a private spa tucked into the lower ground floor.

Upstairs, the main living areas feature an open-plan kitchen, dining, and day room setup, with French doors leading out to terraces overlooking the gardens.

And outside, the standout feature: a mini football pitch that doubles as a basketball court.

Why the price kept dropping for Kompany’s dream home

Selling it, though, wasn’t straightforward.

Reports in the English press suggested Kompany had already cut the asking price by roughly $400,000 last year, with another reduction needed to finally get the deal done.

The issue was the market. Even in Cheshire’s elite neighborhoods like Alderley Edge and Wilmslow, high-end properties have been slow to move.

As one source put it: plenty of price growth at the lower end, but at this level, “very little is selling.”

In the end, a deal was struck below asking. Kompany moves on. The house does too.

No quick return to City for Kompany

For Manchester City fans hoping for a fairytale return, this feels significant.

Kompany selling up suggests he is not planning a Premier League comeback any time soon, let alone stepping in for Pep Guardiola.

Instead, his trajectory is clear: build something at Bayern, compete for Champions League titles, and establish himself among Europe’s elite coaches.
