PSG vs Bayern: Champions League live updates

What a noise!

The fans are making a fine noise as we wait on the players who are set to emerge from the tunnel any moment now.

Ten to go!

The players are leaving the field of play to head down the tunnel for the final team talks before kick-off!

A reminder of the starting XIs:

PSG: Safonov; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Mendes; Vitinha, Zaire-Emery, João Gomes; Kvaratskhelia, Dembélé, Doué

BAYERN: Neuer, Stanisic, Upamecano, Tah, Davies; Pavlovic, Kimmich, Musiala; Olise, Díaz, Kane

A legend speaks, and we listen

They're the best team in Europe right now, they're showing it every day and Luis Enrique is doing amazing things.

The players know that if they win, they're in the final, it's the hardest thing to do.

PSG and Bayern play in similar ways. It's hard to adapt to what Bayern do. But PSG have slightly more individual quality, and because of that they have an advantage in this tie.

While we wait...

Here's a look back at an extraordinary golazo from Mr George Weah, known for being the only African Ballon d'Or and FIFA World Player of the Year winner in history, as well as the 25th President of Liberia.

Did you know?

Today is the first day all season that PSG have a full senior squad available, with no injuries to first-team players to report.

A huge noise for PSG!

The home side have taken to the pitch ahead of kick-off to get on with their pre-game warmup and we've just had our first taste of the fantastic noise that can be generated inside the ground!

PSG task tonight: stopping the unstoppable

Kane's goal record speaks for itself, and at present he's the Ballon d'Or favourite as we enter the final stage of the season.

Of course, the World Cup will largely determine the outcome of the top individual award, but right now it's for everyone else to shorten their own odds and catch up to Kane.

Curious choices from Kompany

I wouldn't have disagreed with you had you suspected that Kompany was set to leave out both Musiala and Davies from his starting XI against PSG tonight, but he's put them both in.

This is certainly a positive move from the manager who looks ready to let his side loose in France against a tough opponent.

Players on the pitch!

Don't scramble just yet, it's only the warmups, but it means that we're edging closer to kick-off in France.

The excitement is building in and around the stadium, with the turnstiles now open and fans finding their seats in the sun.

What happened in the quarter-finals: Bayern

FC Bayern took on 15-time European champions Real Madrid in the previous round.

The first leg, at the Bernabéu, was a tight affair, with Bayern ultimately showing their class and winning 2-1 thanks to goals from Luis Díaz and Harry Kane.

Arbeloa's side went into the second leg with hope, but the feeling was always there that the Germans had the edge over their opponents.

The second leg was the maddest game we've seen all season, with both sides putting on a display for the ages, playing out an astonishing 4-3 win to Bayern. Late goals from Luis Díaz and Olise hit the top corners of Lunin's net to put Real Madrid out of the competition and set up a tie with the holders.

Inside the Bayern dressing room

Here's how things look inside the Bayern dressing room ahead of the game tonight in France.

Luis Enrique pre-game:

Tomorrow will be a lottery. Everyone is ready. It doesn’t matter which player is on the pitch. Tomorrow I’ll do what I always do: pick the best players to start the game. And, be careful, to win the semifinal, we will need every player who can play. In that sense, we’re more than ready.

Luis Enrique, PSG manager

I think it’s the other way around. If there are teams that attack well, you have to know how to defend. The key? It will be attacking in the best possible way and knowing how to defend against this kind of team. What is clear is that it’s an attractive game for all football fans. And both teams are having a good season.

Luis Enrique, PSG manager

All coaches try to reach the final part of the season in the best possible condition. We’re in the semifinals and all the players are ready. The rest are ready. Everyone wants to play. And we want to enjoy these knockout ties. Whether you arrive in better or worse shape depends on a lot of things. It isn’t down to chance. We’re happy to be here.

Luis Enrique, PSG manager

The fans have confidence. That’s positive. For me, there are no favorites in these games. It was the same against Chelsea and Liverpool, when we weren’t favorites either. When you get to these games, the small details will be important. You have to be ready for any scenario. We deserve to be here. We have confidence. But, at the same time, we know how difficult it is to play against Bayern.

A moment for the death of the 'starball'

Nike are set to retake control of the Champions League ball-making duties and as such, the now iconic star design will be retired. They had 3 goes at it at the turn of the century and went with a minimalist look, so it will be interesting to see what comes next.

Confirmation of Bayern's XI:

Elon's been sticking his fingers in plug sockets again, and as such I'm a little late with the Twitter posts. But here they are...

Who to watch: PSG

Perhaps it's a bit of a left-field pick, this one, but I think the battle between Pacho and Kane will be worth looking out for. The Ecuadorian defender is quickly making a name for himself as one of the top talents playing in Europe and his focus will be on keeping Kane quiet for 180 minutes across the two games.

With solid passing out from the back as well, he's proven himself to be a key outlet for PSGin their buildup, and Luis Enrique's team sprouts from the security that both he and Marquinhos give to the rest of the players.

Bayern arrive at the Parc de Princes!

Serious faces all round from the German side, who are looking to continue their dominant run in Europe's elite competition.

Huge name missing for Bayern

Bringing it back to absences for a moment, the biggest name missing for Bayern tonight is their manager, Vincent Kompany, who won't be on the sideline for the game.

The former Manchester City defender picked up a yellow card against Real Madrid (more on that game later) and as such will have to watch the game from the stands.

Of course, he'll have his iPad there, a direct line to the bench, and all the buffet food Paris has got to offer.

Lineups incoming...

It's not long until we get to find out the two starting XIs for this huge game in Paris.

Stay tuned.

The metronome...

The Portuguese midfielder has been a key figure in Luis Enrique's side since they took the step into Europe's elite.

Kompany expecting the turf

This is as close as he'll get this evening, as he's set to miss out on touchline duties once the game kicks off. But there's more on that shortly...

Bayern to wear home kit

This tweet seems to suggest that we've got both home kits on show this evening, which makes a nice change from having to watch some horrible volt green outfits race up and down the pitch. I'm no football dinosaur, but things like this make me smile.

A peek at the Parc

Here's how PSG's Parc de Princes looks before the storm...

Who's the ref?

Sandro Schärer is the referee today, and one you may not have on your Referee Spotter's Guide.

Unless of course you're a Swiss Super League lover, where he's got close to 200 games (186) under his belt. He's got a European hat-trick, having refereed games in the Europa League and Conference League.

The Swiss referee took charge of PSG's opening game of the Champions League league phase, a 4-0 win over Atalanta.

Bayern team news:

For Bayern, the list is long but their deep squad means it should have a somewhat limited impact. Serge Gnabry is the big name missing, having suffered an injury that rules him out for the World Cup. Lennart Karl (thigh) is also out for the game, but he may well make it back for the second leg.

The other players on the injury list are:

Guerreiro

Ulrich

Bischof

Mike

Kiala

PSG team news

Luis Enrique's team come into this home game with almost a clean bill of health, with only Quentin Ndjantou on the injury list. All of his big hitters are fit and expected to start the game.
