Inter Miami - New York City FC: As it happened
Inter Miami again fell short in the absence of Lionel Messi and were forced to settle for a draw in a hard-fought game against New York City FC.
Tata Martino's side got off to a positive start when Julian Gressel curled in a pin-point delivery from a wide free kick, allowing an unmarked Luis Suarez to nod home. As the first half wore on NYCFC began to enjoy a larger share of the possession and their offensive intent was rewarded when Alonso Martinez capitalised on space in behind the Miami backline and fired confidently past Drake Callender.
The Herons were the more ambitious of the two teams after the break and a series of half chances fell to an increasingly frustrated Suarez. Matt Freese was called into action for a number of important stops but Miami failed to make the most of their dominance in possession.

Hammes Wolf tries to keep the ball in the corner but it rolls out for a goal kick. Will there be one final chance for Inter Miami?
Sergio Busquets looks to get something going for Miami but their attacking players are not offering much. It sems a little odd that Martino has not given Campana the chance to be a game-changer.
The first few minutes of added time passes without any real incident. Inter Miami have a lot of the ball, but aren't able to do much with it.
There will be a bumper nine-minute added time at the end of the second half.

With that change Sergio Busquets has pushed forward into the midfield, with Aviles taken his spot in the backline. This is certainly a more natureal set-up for Miami.
First change for the Herons. Tomas Aviles comes on for Yannick Bright.
Huge chance! Mounsef Bakrar

WATCH: NYCFC level through Alonso Martinez
Having said that the Inter Miami backline has done well, the NYCFC leveller will certainly not feature on any highlight videos of Sergio Busquets' illustrious career. The Spaniard lost the ball on the left and was unable to recover, allowing Alonso Martinez the time and the space needed to latch onto a through-ball and fire home past Drake Callender.
WATCH: Luis Suarez opens the scoring

It would be over-stating the case to say that the NYCFC goal was coming, but Miami have looked a little sloppy out of possession in the last few minutes.
Tata Martino will be furious with the defending there, so easy for Martinez to get a clear run on goal.
GOOOOAAAAAL! Alonso Martinez
And the visitors are level! The NYCFC forward latches onto a clever through ball in the box and rifles the ball past Drake Callender.

Both teams have been forced into a number of key changes for this game so it could well be a battle to see which side can adapt best to the conditions.
