Is Sergio Ramos going to make a return to Sevilla after leaving PSG?

Former Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has left PSG and is looking for a new club ahead of the 2023-24 season.

Since winning their seventh Europa League title, plenty has happened at Sevilla, with the renewal of head coach José Luis Mendilibar, the departure of sporting director Monchi, and the arrival of Víctor Orta to replace the man from Cádiz.

The LaLiga club are now preparing for next season with the experienced Basque coach, and Orta in charge of transfers. But will they make a move for Sergio Ramos?

According to Spanish outlet Relevo, Sevilla are not considering signing Ramos. The 37-year-old is not a summer target for the club as with the signing of Federico Gattoni as well as being able to count on Loic Badé, Marcao, Tanguy Nianzou, Karim Rekik, and the option of Nemanja Gudelj, the centre-back position is well covered.

Radio Sevilla had reported that Ramos was open to a return to play for his former club as his family also wants to return to Spain after a spell in Paris with PSG.

But Ramos’ future will not be in the Andalusian capital. Since his departure from PSG in early June, the rumours have been spreading and there has been some talk of a move to Saudi Arabia, although it is not a destination that convinces his entourage.

Key figure before leaving PSG

The veteran defender has had two very different seasons with French champions PSG. After a run of injuries in his first campaign at the Parc des Princes, he became a key part of Christophe Galtier’s team in 2022-23, acting as a leader in the backline and in the dressing room.

Ramos played a total of 45 games across the whole season, 33 in Ligue 1 and eight in the Champions League. Physically he proved that he is still up to the task but it remains to be seen where he will ply his trade in 2023-24.
