The still manager of PSG, Christophe Galtier, and his son, John Valovic-Galtier, have been put under police custody this Friday morning (30 June). The man from Marseille is suspected of being guilty of a ‘racist discrimination’ during his time as boss of Nice in which, according to an email from ex-club director, Julien Fournier, he complained at the number of muslim players in the squad and had acted to malign or harm them.

Last season, just before Galtier left Nice, Fournier sent an email to the club owners, INEOS, explaining to them the severity of the situation caused by the current PSG manager. “He went to a restaurant and everyone attacked him for saying that the team was full of blacks.”

Fournier details shocking comments

“I asked him what was wrong and he explained that the team was not like him”, the account continues, “that we couldn’t continue like this. I asked him to help me understand what he was saying and he told me, ‘you have built a team full of scum’. I asked him to be more precise and he added, ‘There are only blacks and half of your team is in the mosque on Friday afternoons...’. I told Mr. John Valovic-Galtier that I was outraged by his comments and I asked him to leave my office immediately”.

Will Galtier get arrested?

Being under police custody does not mean that Galtier is guilty of any crime. In France, it is a measure which keeps you held for 24 hours, before being let go or being made to declare in court. The manager, as with his son, who is also under police watch, strongly denied the accusations that were made against them and PSG even publicly supported their manager.
