José Mourinho brutally blasts Pep Guardiola over Manchester City charges
Fenerbahçe coach Mourinho has viciously responded to Guardiola’s comments comparing their Premier League titles and discussed signing Cristiano Ronaldo.
Former Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho was the center of attention at a press conference ahead Saturday’s Istanbul derby between his team, Fenerbahçe, and bitter rivals Beşiktaş, mainly due to an attack on Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola. The Portuguese also discussed claims he could look to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Al Nassr.
José Mourinho’s 115 charges attack on Guardiola
In addition to brining up Beşiktaş' recent poor form and “psychological collapse,” Mourinho took a swipe at Guardiola, his eternal rival: “Pep said he won six Premier Leagues and I won three, but I won fairly and cleanly. If I lose, I want to congratulate my opponent because they are better than me. I don’t want to win with 150 lawsuits,” he asserted.
The ex-Chelsea boss was also asked about comments from Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek, who has said that if anyone tries to violate his club’s rights, he would “gouge their eyes out”.
“The president who said he would gouge eyes out… You can either cry or laugh at this situation,“ Mourinho responded. ”I prefer to laugh. When I looked at the reflections in the world press, I was ashamed of this situation and felt sorry for him“.
Will Cristiano Ronaldo join Mourinho at Fenerbahçe?
As for Ronaldo, the 61-year-old refuted suggestions the former Madrid icon would be joining him at Fenerbahçe: “Cristiano Ronaldo will not come. The first reason is that I have three very good center forwards, and I don’t want a forward. Cristiano is always Cristiano, but I don’t want him because I’m happy with my forwards.”
