As the days tick by, the Madridista fanbase get increasingly antsy as the announcement of their star midfielder drags on. Jude Bellingham, as confirmed by Borussia Dortmund, will sign for Real Madrid in the next days and his transfer will finally be official on both sides. The England midfielder was due to link up with his national team this week in their games against Malta and North Macedonia, but now it seems that an injury has hampered his plans.

That begs the question: will Jude Bellingham’s hamstring injury for England speed up his transfer process with Real Madrid? A lot of the time, for people on the outside, football is an untouchable entity of incomprehensible numbers, where footballers are no longer human beings but demigods, one step away from immortality. Stadiums and training grounds are spaceships capable of interstellar flight at the blink of an eye and the lives the protagonists in the story are akin to Walt Disney’s most outrageous fairy story.

When will Real Madrid announce Bellingham as a new player?

What many people don’t realise is just how much of the world of football runs through WhatsApp. The average person on the street might not be aware that late, scrambling phone calls are common as things are left to the last minute, like washing up the plates or making the bed. Remember when you were a child and you first realised your teachers swore? Well, footballers swear too; they spill their food; they trap their fingers in the cupboard door; they, like football, are imperfect.

Why am I telling you this? Well, because things don’t always happen the way people want or think, which is why Madrid fans are growing impatient: the official date of Jude Bellingham’s presentation has not been revealed; the club have not even confirmed the move. Let’s give things time.

Having said that, the date that is swirling around for a potential presentation is June 15. The reason behind this date is that it comes directly after the presentations of Fran García (Monday 12) and Brahim Díaz (Tuesday 13). While nothing is confirmed, various reports have claimed that this is the plan. And with Jude not available for selection with England, the clues add up (despite reports in England saying the player will continue his rehab with the national side).

Where will Bellingham play in the Madrid side?

There is the €103 million question that Carlo Ancelotti will have to solve. The youngster can play in virtually any role in the midfield, from a pivot through to inside midfield to behind the striker. Granted, his preferred position is the happy medium, it can still be done. How Carlo Ancelotti lines up the Madrid XI with Camavinga, Kroos, Tchouaméni, Valverde, Modric and Bellingham is anyone’s guess, but that group of players has the capacity to go far in every tournament Madrid play in for the foreseeable future. But first, let’s see if Real Madrid finish the washing up and let us all say ‘hey’ to Jude.
